BEYOND 2000 Committee

Welcome!

District Governor Noel has set two key membership challenges for our Rotary year 2005-06.

These are:

  1. Each Club in District 9710 to achieve a net increase in membership of 15% for the year; and,
  2. For District 9710 to achieve a membership of at least 2,000 Rotarians.

This part of the District 9710 Resource is intended to provide support for every Club, Membership Coordinator and Rotarian in District 9710 in achieving these goals.

Why the focus on Membership

Membership in our District is stagnating at best, declining at worst!

We need to make a concerted and prolonged effort to increase our membership, both in the District and in the Clubs, to viable and maintainable numbers.

This does not mean we will sacrifice quality for quantity. Quite the reverse. We need to RETAIN and develop our present and future members.

Membership has three fundamental elements: Recruitment + Extension - Losses = Growth

Retention relates to Losses. The greater our retention rates, the lower is our Losses. If we can retain our members and reduce our Losses, any efforts we make in the areas of Recruitment and Extension will be more successful.

Recruitment Model

A key element of this support is the deployment of a BEYOND 2000 recruitment model or process.

The recruitment model has been developed locally over a number of years. It is not something which has been imported from somewhere else. It has been tried and improved over the last couple of years and has been found to work!

The model is being promoted because we see it as a powerful tool to assist Clubs achieve the membership goals set by DGE Noel. The purpose is not to be prescriptive. We are promoting the model so that Clubs have another tool in their recruitment toolkits. We are also enhancing the model to include retention and education elements.
